Help in Choosing Your Next Floor Lamp

Lighting is an essential thing that you should have in any infrastructure, whether in your home, business establishment, school, and many other places. These brighten your room when it gets dark or to emphasize something that is rather valuable. Lighting a specific part of your room with different lamps will also give that sense of creativity and style that you can experiment with, depending on your taste and personality. There are several lighting designs that different establishments require.

Some are concerned with giving the right amount of light for a specific task, some are concerned with saving their money with the use of energy saving lightings, some are concerned in emphasizing on the aesthetic appearance of a fixture or artistic work through with the use of their lighting and many other factors.

The need for space and functionality is what makes floor lamps popular in the contemporary period. Unlike the common lighting that are placed on the ceiling, illuminating the room from above, floor lamps do the opposite. These project light going upward which allows the rooms to be illuminated without being overly bright for the eyes. These are also good when placed in corners if you like to have some dim effects since floor lamps create shadows too.

Floor lamps are usually in metallic shades of brass or bronze, but can also come in glass. You can get these with a more stylish touch if you will change the bulbs with colored ones or adjust the bulb to whichever direction that you like.

Floor lamps are now following the global trend of going “green”, where there is maximum lighting with minimum electric consumption and damage to the environment. There are what are called CFL’s or Compact fluorescent lamps and the LED lamps. CFLs consume less power without sacrificing light quality compared to incandescent lamps. This would mean that using CFL’s will help you save power and your money as well, especially if you are running a commercial establishment. Some countries even provide subsidies for CFL’s so that more people will buy this kind of light source. The LED lamps also use less power to create the same amount of lighting, but the downside is that it is more expensive than CFL’s. Another advantage is that LED’s last longer than any other lamps.

So, why would you stick to the old style of lighting when you can enjoy lighting that is trendy and energy saving?
